Straight Outta Compton is the forthcoming biopic about N.W.A., directed by F. Gary Gray and executive produced by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. Ahead of its August 14th theatrical release, a new trailer has surfaced. The two-and-a-half-minute clip offers glimpses at the hip-hop group’s thrilling rise to fame, as well as their racially-charged clashes with police.

According to a plot synopsis, the film “tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.” It stars O’Shea Jackson Jr. playing his father Ice Cube, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E, and Paul Giamatti as the group’s manager, Jerry Heller.
