Rock titans Yes and Toto are joining forces for a summer tour. The 26-city jaunt officially kicks off in early August and features stops in Brooklyn, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles before wrapping up in mid-September.
“We’re thrilled to be hitting the road with Toto,” Yes co-founder and bassist Chris Squire said in a statement. “Yes have always been big fans of Toto’s music, and we think the fans are going to really enjoy seeing both of us together.”
“We are so honored to be touring with our musical hero’s YES,” Toto founder and guitarist Steve Lukather added. “Life changing music for me and the guys and we even have a song on our new record totally inspired by them, so it is a lifelong love of their music that has kept us fans to this day … This is a crazy dream come true for us and we can’t wait to do this tour and to make new friends and solidify old friendships.”
The joint tour comes in support of Yes and Toto’s latest releases. Toto’s first album in 10 years, Toto XIV, arrived last month. Meanwhile, Yes have a pair of live albums in the pipeline: The 14-disc box set Progeny: Seven Shows From Seventy-Two arrives on May 19th and a CD/DVD bundle entitled Like It Is comes July 7th.
