Arcade Fire are on a well-deserved break following a lengthy world tour behind Reflektor. However, the band members aren’t just putzing around in downtown Montreal: Will Butler recently released a solo album, while touring members Sarah Neufeld and Colin Stetson have teamed up for a collaborative record. Now comes word of a new, tasty venture from husband and wife Win Butler and Régine Chassagne.
Butler and Chassagne are opening their very own Haitian-themed restaurant in Montreal this summer. Agrikol is a collaboration with Roland Jean and Jen Agg, who own a Haitian restaurant called Rhum Corner in Toronto. Agrikol will feature a music and art space in addition to “really authentic” foods and flavors. “The idea is that it’s a cultural space,” Butler explained to Globe and Mail. “The thing that we were really impressed with at Rhum Corner is that it’s this space for Haitian and Caribbean culture and it’s really cool and contemporary.”
Chassagne, of course, is of Haitian origin, and the band has raised several million dollars to benefit the country over the last several years. Recently, Butler also launched his own Haitian coffee line.
