Nasvhille may boast some of the best country music the US has to offer, but it’s also home to a number of promising young pop acts. Case in point: newcomers MYZICA. Comprising singer Isaaca Byrd and producer Micah Tawlks, the duo swaps twangy and pastoral ballads in favor of glossy, balloon-sized synthpop gems. The band will proudly rep a different side to the Music City on its self-titled debut EP, due out on June 9th through Peptalk Records/Tone Tree.

As a preview, MYZICA’s revealed “We Started A Fire”, an alluring number that calls to mind like-minded groups CHVRCHES and Haerts. (And no, it’s not a companion piece to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire”.) Here, Byrd is shrouded in smoky synths, as her vocals burn brightly like a flame refusing to die down. Listen in below.
