Public Image Ltd. announce new album, What the World Needs Now…

    Public Image Ltd., the post-punk outfit led by Sex Pistols’ John Lydon, is set to return with a new album on September 4th. What the World Needs Now… was recorded at Steve Winwood’s Wincraft studio in the UK and is due to arrive through the band’s own PiL Official label. It serves as Public Image Ltd.’s 10th LP to date following 2012’s This Is PiL.

    According to a press release, What the World Needs Now… sees Lydon joined by guitarist Lu Edmonds (The Damned), drummer Bruce Smith (The Pop Group) and bassist Scott Firth. Asked to provide a statement on the new LP, Lydon pulled a Johnny Rotten, simply instructing: “Buy now while stocks last.

    The first official single “Double Trouble” is set to premiere on August 21st. The English group is also expected to announce a North American tour in support.
