Spoon covers The Cramps’ “TV Set” — listen

Austin rockers redo a classic '80s jam for forthcoming Poltergeist remake

    There’s not the clearest bridge between The Cramps’ deranged, punk take on rockabilly and Spoon’s polished, slinky indie rock. Yet the latter band manages to cross that gap with ease on their cover of the former’s “TV Set”. Britt Daniel and the boys deliver a remarkably faithful rendition of the opening track from 1980’s Bad Music For Bad People, if only shined up just a bit. They wrap their guitars in fuzz and kick the low-end up to menacing levels, while Daniel assumes Lux Interior’s stuttering delivery to perfection.
