Jay Rock’s yet to tell fans when they can expect his sophomore album, the long-awaited follow-up to 2011’s Follow Me Home. That hasn’t stopped him from sharing new music, however. Last fall, he dropped “Pay For It”, a hard-hitting number featuring none other than Kendrick Lamar. Now, the Top Dawg MC’s stepped into the spotlight once more with “Money Trees Deuce”.

Produced by Flippa and J Proof, the track finds Jay tossing out lines meant to inspire and motivate. “Stay chasin’ money trees, don’t let nobody tell you you can’t do it,” he implores towards the end, adding, “Go hard for what you believe in.” While it might be tempting to call it a sequel to Kendrick’s good kid, m.A.A.d city highlight “Money Trees” (which Jay features on), the connection seems to be in title only — unfortunately, the newly crowned Generational Icon doesn’t pop up to provide any bars. Even so, it’s a tenacious joint all its own and certainly worth a spin or two, ya bish?
