Over 130,000 people signed a petition demanding Glastonbury cancel Kanye West’s headlining performance. The festival didn’t, and Yeezus delivered.
Kanye performed a career-spanning 30-song set under the glow of a new stage setup that was designed to look like an empty warehouse with low-hanging florescent lights. Highlights included a reworked version of “All Day”, a rare performance of “I Wonder”, and a surprise appearance from Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, who joined Kanye for “Lost in the World” and “Hold My Liquor”. Kanye also briefly covered Bon Iver’s “Woods” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
Another noteworthy, unfortunate moment occurred during “Black Skinhead” when a comedian named Lee Nelson crashed the stage, forcing Kanye to restart the song.
Despite the aforementioned petition, the audience seemed generally enthused by the performance and could be heard singing along to lyrics.
