Despite having last released an album in 2009 (I Feel Cream), electro-pop icon Peaches has been keeping herself rather busy. She reworked Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar into a one-woman show called Peaches Christ Superstar, and chronicled her rise to stardom in a futuristic rock opera dubbed Peaches Does Herself. Last year, she finally took the time to record a new record, Rub, which will be out September 25th via I U She/INgrooves.

Rub was recorded in Los Angeles with musician Vice Cooler. Peaches was also joined in the studio by frequent collaborator Feist, who features on “I Mean Something”, and Kim Gordon, who sing-speaks the hook for “Close Up”. That’s the album art above.

As a first look at the new material, Peaches has revealed the video for lead single “Light in Places”. The clip features UK aerial artist Empress Stah, and may be just a bit NSFW. Empress Stah is known for her laser butt plug show, which sees her shooting an actual laser from her actual butt. It’s actually remarkably fitting imagery for the song, which sees Peaches’ calling to, “Liberate en masse/ Eliminate the class/ All humans, free at last/ So much beauty coming out of my ass.”

In addition to the album, Peaches has announced a photo book capturing the last decade of her work. Entitled What Else Is In The Teaches Of Peaches and shot by photographer Holger Talinski, the book documents her role in a production of L’Orfeo in Berlin, the previously mentioned theatrical pieces, and collaborations with the likes of Yoko Ono and R.E.M. The book is due out in June through Akashic Books.
