As one of music’s greatest songwriters, Van Morrison has received plenty of accolade, including six Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His latest honor? Knighthood.
Today, Morrison joins the likes of Paul McCartney, Elton John, Mick Jagger, and Tom Jones as musicians who have been knighted by the British monarchy. Thus, from this point forward, he shall be referred to as Sir George Ivan “Van” Morrison.
News of Sir Morrison’s knighthood comes on the heels of his new latest studio album. Duets: Re-working the Catalogue features contributions from Bobby Womack, Steve Winwood, Mark Knopfler, Mavis Staples, Gregory Porter, and others.
