Chicago has had a long love affair with music festivals, with plenty of experiences available for everyone’s tastes. But even with all the annual gatherings there, newcomer Mamby on the Beach is set to deliver something no one else in town can offer: a freakin’ beach. Yeah, Chicago has a beach, and it’s awesome.
And it’s going to be even more awesome when Mamby takes over Oakwood Beach this July 11th-12th. Headlining the inaugural event will be Passion Pit and Empire of the Sun, topping a bill loaded with the best in indie-dance, house, and techno. James Murphy (DJ set), Royksopp, Phantogram, Cut Copy (DJ set), Cherub, Zhu, Art Department, Classixx (live), Robert DeLong, Felix Da Housecat, Tanlines, Com Truise, Tei Shi, Calptone, Matthew Dear, and more are all scheduled to appear.
Tickets are on sale at the festival’s website, but who wants to pay for a trip to a magical, musical beach when you can get in for free.
