Chance the Rapper got a chance to meet his #WCW, host Valerie Warner, when he appeared on the daytime talk show Windy City Live. Ostensibly there to promote his headlining slot at Pitchfork Music Festival, it was really more of an opportunity for the local boy to take over the show. And while that was big for the fan in Chance, the fans of chance got some big news too, when he confirmed a long-teased collaborative project with his idol, Kanye West.
After showing footage of Chance’s reaction when Kanye gave him a shout out from the stage, Warner asked if there would be any joint material in the future. “You know what, we’re on Windy City Live, so let’s say yeah,” Chance said after some bush-beating. He then looked straight into the camera and expounded: “Me and Kanye and a lot of Chicago artists and a lot of dope artists are working on a collaborative effort that will be released tentatively.”
So while clearly not simply a project between the pair, there is definitely some joint music coming in the future. And Chi-town just went wild.
He also teased more of his Chicago park field trips, when he surprises a group of kids with a trip to local parks and museums. After the interview, at around the 07:45 mark, Chance joined Donnie Trumpet and his Social Experiment brethren for the first of two performances. First came the Surf standout “Sunday Candy”, and they returned to the stage later (around 39:30) for a rendition of Acid Rap cut “Paranoia”. In between, Chance got to play co-anchor as he took over the desk and tossed to the weather.
