Crystal Castles are continuing down their new path following the departure of vocalist Alice Glass late last year. After introducing a new singer only known as Edith on “Frail”, producer Ethan Kath has revealed the experimental electronic project’s latest single, “Deicide”.
Over pulsing synths and a thumping beat, Edith coos softly, “Their kindness is charade/ It’s used to sedate/ They remain unashamed.” The nearly five-minute cut pounds consistently along the drum machine’s lines, but shifts throughout between scattering electronics and ethereal vocal spirals. It all gels together for the final act, and you can take a listen below.
According to an interview with Pitchfork, Kath says he’s currently hard at work on Crystal Castles’ next effort. Both “Frail” and “Deicide” are expected to be included.
