Gorillaz to record new album in September for planned 2016 release

Damon Albarn previously announced that he would be reactivating Gorillaz for a release aimed at 2016. In a new interview with Australia’s ABC News, Albarn confirmed that he’ll begin recording the band’s new album in September.

In anticipation, Albarn’s Gorillaz collaborator Jamie Hewlett has been posting new artwork of the band’s cartoon characters to Instagram. Check out fresh images of Russell and Noodle below.

Not counting the iPad-record LP The Fall, Gorillaz’s last full-fledged studio album came in the form of 2010’s Plastic Beach.
