Enjoying the sun? Maybe you’re like me and sometimes wake up hoping for a rainy day, filled with grey skies and dancing trees. Sadly, today isn’t that day, at least not literally (it’s actually gorgeous outside in Chicago right now), but the unprovoked return of Copenhagen’s finest post-punk rockers Lower eases the nerves. It’s only been a year since the CoSign’d outfit dropped their debut, Seek Lower Climes, but they’re back with a new EP, which is due out September 11th via Matador.

It’s called I’m A Lazy Son… But I’m The Only Son and spans five tracks. As expected, vocalist Adrian Toubro, guitarist Simon Formann, bassist Kristian Emdal, and drummer Anton Rothstein do their thing, which is simply put: fucking depressing. Our first light slam comes in the form of “At The Endless Party”, a fantastic dirge that’s sprinkled with piano (!) and one hellish rhythm section. “What you see is what you get,” Toubro pines, adding, “Take me as I am.” Will do; listen below.
