You never know what you will behold when attending a Foo Fighters event. Maybe you’ll see them jam with members of Pearl Jam and Blind Melon, debut their very own Game of Thrones-style stage setup, or even offer an audience member the birthday gift of a lifetime.
Last night at New York’s Citi Field, fans were treated to a most excellent surprise when Dave Grohl and co. brought out Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith (not Will Ferrell) for a rockin’ cover of Faces’ “Stay With Me”, written by Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. Taylor Hawkins took on vocals and let Smith get behind the kit. Prior to Smith’s appearance, Grohl repeatedly told the crowd, “I love this guy!”
