It’s the season of hotdogs, grilled corn, and veggie burgers (hey, not everyone’s a meat-eater), and that means barbecues abound. Some folks can spend hours curating the perfect BBQ playlist, but Mac DeMarco has taken some of the work on himself by releasing a new instrumental album, Some Other Ones.
Described as a “BBQ soundtrack,” DeMarco wrote and recorded all nine on the album tracks over July 4th – 8th (that’s today, mind you) at a studio in Far Rockaway, Queens. Many of the song titles feature your favorite cookout foods, like “Peters Pickes”, “Onion Man”, and “Young Coconut”. Take a listen to the whole thing below via DeMarco’s Bandcamp.
DeMarco may play some of the jams at his own BBQ, which he’s throwing today (July 8th) at 153 Morgan Ave in Brooklyn to support his forthcoming LP, Another One. The good times begin at 1:00pm and free food will be provided to anyone who brings a food bank donation. Another One is due out August 7th via Captured Tracks.
