Well, that was fast: Just four months after releasing their previous LP, California psych rockers Wand have announced another album, titled 1000 Days. Due September 25th, what makes this one so special is that it marks the band’s Drag City debut. For those, keeping count, this means the trio will have released three albums in just over a year, starting with last summer’s Ganglion Reef, continuing with this past spring’s Golem, and keep on keepin’ on with this fall release. Watch out, Ty Segall!
1000 Days was recorded in the band’s hometowns of Los Angeles and San Francisco, and you can see the cover art above. If we’re to believe a press release, the album “finds Wand searching in corners and finding extra texture via synthetic animation. The atmosphere is quicksilver and the space acoustic; as a beacon sparks electric, a cascade of hi-fi noises for everyone’s ears – raucous, impassive, inevitable musical expressions. The hope is to use your head, to escape the chains wrapped invisible around us.”
Put that mindfuck of a description to good use by listening to “Stolen Footsteps” below. Shortly after, you can check out the album’s tracklist and see if they’re coming to your town this fall during their world tour. Spoiler: They probably are.
