Update: Wayne Coyne pranks the Internet with fake Beach House song

Dream pop outfit appear on Wayne Coyne's "Freakcast" podcast

In support of their fifth studio album, Depression Cherry, Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally of Beach House recently appeared on Wayne Coyne’s brand new podcast “The Fearless Freakcast” (great name, btw). The two-piece discussed their hometown of Baltimore (“Go Orioles!”), the departure of their drummer, their favorite mugs, and more. As a bonus, they also performed (see update below) a previously unreleased track, a reverb-soaked number called “Helicopter Dream (I’m Awake)”.

Listen to the full interview below; the song starts around the 22:00 mark. Update — 3:32 p.m.: As some of our commenters have pointed out, the song may actually be a fake. Update — 4:21 p.m.: According to reps for the band, the entire thing is fake. “It is not a new song. Not even their voices on that podcast. Sorry!”

Beach House will be on the road for the next few months on one of this season’s most anticipated tours. Grab tickets via Seatgeek:
