Eddie Vedder has performed alongside an incredible group of celebrities in the last week. Just a few days ago, he and the Pearl Jam guys rocked the Late Show, a jam session that even included Stephen Colbert putting in his own time on the mic. Then, during the Global Citizen Festival in New York this past weekend, Vedder and Beyoncé teamed up for a cover of “Redemption Song”. The latest person to join Vedder’s #squad? None other than Bill Nye the Science Guy. Seriously.
The brainiac took the stage during Pearl Jam’s rendition of “Rockin’ In the Free World” at Global Citizen, donning his signature bow tie look and all. Fan-caught footage of the cameo includes a handful of priceless moments, such as when Bill belts out lyrics side-by-side with Vedder and gets down with some exquisite footwork (read: awesomely awkward). There’s also a point around the 2:40 mark where the scientist fans the apparently very “hot” guitar of Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard. Safety first, kids, even at the rock show.
Among the other celebs who joined PJ on stage for the epic superjam: Coldplay’s Chris Martin (who debuted a new song earlier that evening), Olivia Wilde, Kerry Washington, and Jason Sudeikis.
Of course, Bill Nye the Science Guy is no stranger to busting a move. We’ve seen him light up the dance floor to Daft Punk.
