Dave Grohl is doing better since rocking off the stage and breaking his leg in Sweden back in June — he’s now able to walk around with a cane and a boot. But the leg is still broken, and he knows how much of a bummer a busted limb can be. So when he spotted a little girl wearing a cast in the crowd at Foo Fighters’ show Tuesday at LA’s The Forum, his heart went out to her.
“This one, I usually dedicate to the road crew, and the people who built the throne, and all that bullshit,” he told the crowd before going into a slowed down “Big Me”, telling one fan “It ain’t going to you, drunk ass … I’m going to sing this one for the little lady who broke her leg too, how bout that?”
Grohl asked how she broke her leg, saying, “In the pool! What?! Man! Can I sign your cast? Will you sign mine too? This one goes out to you. I can’t [sign] it now, I’m on the clock. I’m going to get it later.” He then turned to the crowd and announced, “This is an old song I’m going to sing for the little lady with the broken leg, because nobody wants a fuckin’ broken leg man!”
During the song, he had the house lights turned down and a spot thrown on the little girl while the crowd lit up the venue with their phones. (Man, what happened to lighters?!) At the end of the set, he went back and made good on his promise to sign her cast. Her dazed look after he signs it pretty much says it all.

Elsewhere in the evening, the Foos continued their habit of bringing out guest performers during their current tour. About midway through the 21-song set, Gary Clark Jr. came on stage to perform the Sonic Highways track “What Did I Do?/God as My Witness”. Perry Farrell later came on for “Been Caught Stealing” and “Had a Bad”. Check out all three clips below.
