Nine months ago, Kendrick Lamar served as the final musical guest on The Colbert Report. The performance, which ranked among our favorite late-night moments of 2014, clearly resonated with Colbert, who invited the Compton MC to guest on the sophomore episode of Late Show.

Specifically, the setlist included “Wesley’s Theory”, “Momma”, “King Kunta”, and “U”, the latter of which featured a brand new verse. For the performance, Kendrick was accompanied by a full backing band that included Thundercat and Bilal, among others.
