Mark Kozelek covers Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ “The Weeping Song” — listen

During a concert in Scotland this past August, Mark Kozelek brought Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to the stage — well, in spirit that is. Sandwiched between his own originals, the Sun Kil Moon mastermind took on Cave standard and The Good Son single “The Weeping Song”.

A recording of the cover — which embodies much of the same haunting, mournful aura as the original — has finally made its way online. Listen in below.

This Cave cover is just one of many news items to come from the Kozelek camp. He and Jesu are currently working on a collaborative record; he has a new EP called Willow Garden on the way; and he’s due to appear on the new album from Minor Victories, a supergroup comprised of members of Slowdive and Mogwai.
