It still feels like some sort of weird pop dream, but Ryan Adams has announced the release date for his complete album cover of Taylor Swift’s smash 1989It’s a real thing, and it’s really coming in just four days. Adams announced via Instagram that the digital version of the record will be available September 21st, and also debuted the album artwork.

And if you still think this is all some big ruse, there’s now complete aural proof of Adams’ 1989, as his version of “Bad Blood” premiered today on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. Featuring what Adams previously called a “chimney guitar coda,” the alt-country rocker has turned the bass-heavy club track into a lush mid-tempo number full of rich strings. Place that instrumental focus next to Adams’ doleful vocals, and the track is transformed from a spiteful anthem dripping with vitriol into a heartbroken ode to lost friendship. Listen below.

Pre-orders for Adams’ 1989 will begin tonight at 9:00 p.m. PT on iTunes and include an instant download of “Bad Blood”. A CD and vinyl release will follow.

For her part, Swift appears to be as excited as anyone over the album’s impending release. In fact, Zane Lowe hinted that the pop star will be joining Adams for an interview on Beats 1 Radio on Monday. So, stay tuned.
