Florence and the Machine spent the last few months touring around the world behind How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, including sets at Finland’s Flow Festival and Norway’s Oya Festival. Hell, the UK outfit, led by the ever-triumphant Florence Welch, even braved a damn lightning storm at Lollapalooza.

The band brought their seasoned live show to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday, extending their summer streak and doing what they do best: wowing the crowd with their emotional stage presence. Though Welch & co. are usually known for big, anthemic affairs, this time around they went the minimalist route, using only a harp, acoustic guitar, and keyboard to convey the power of album standout “What Kind of Man”.
