Marty McFly and Doc Brown are unimpressed with the real 2015

Back to the Future day led to all types of reunions, from Today Show interviews to Toyota campaigns. What none of these nostalgic meetings did, however, was bring together the real Marty McFly and Doc Brown. Last night, that changed when Jimmy Kimmel welcomed out Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd in full character during his show in New York City.

The actors were carried to the stage in a real Delorean, stepping out with a big, “Great Scott!” Unfortunately, Marty and Doc were none too impressed with the 2015 they found themselves in. No flying cars, no real hoverboards to speak of, and our greatest technological innovation is used to send suggestive cartoon pictures of eggplants to each other. (And wouldn’t ya know it, after the show was shot, the Cubs lost the NLCS.) Making things worse, the closest thing to nonfiction the film featured is an egomaniacal casino owner who could end up ruining the world.

See what Back to the Future II would’ve looked like if it were a bit more accurate below.

After the sketch, Fox dropped the character and came out for an interview with Kimmel. In addition to discussing his first trip to Brooklyn and the story of how he first read the script for Back to the Future, Fox showed off the actual self-lacing Nike Mags he had received earlier in the day. Fox said the shoes would be available via auction to benefit the the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, though no word on when those auctions will begin.

Check out the interview — and the first look at the power laces — below.
