Upon releasing their first single to YouTube a half decade ago, RDGLDGRN quickly gained a following for their unique blend of punk, reggae, and alternative hip-hop. It wasn’t long before they’d made fans of rappers (Angel Haze) and rockers (Dave Grohl) alike. 2013 saw the release of both their debut EP and LP, but since then, the Washington, D.C. trio’s output has been limited to a one-off single. On October 9th, they’ll finally return with more new music in the form of their aptly titled EP2.

“This EP Project is our first release since our debut and it’s just a re-introduction of our band,” the group tells Consequence of Sound about the self-released effort, “as well as just a snap shot of where we happen to be creatively borrowing from more genres and mixing it all up to make music we want to hear in this moment.”

Ahead of the official release, the entirety of EP2 is streaming below. The six-track EP demonstrates just how much further the band has expanded their palette. Lead single and kick off track “No Pixar” bops on a go-go beat, keeping the track strolling with minimal other instrumentation. “Hangout” uses dance floor electronics, while “Chop U Down” comes along with a playful pop vibe. “Runnin Away” dabbles in a sound almost akin to chiptune, while the ambient groove of closing track “Won’t Last” makes it a standout even without its The Goonies tribute video.
