Never one to do things by the book, music’s greatest axeman, Prince, will trade in his guitar for a piano when he heads out on the road later this month. As Dr Funkenberry points out, the Prince Spotlight: Piano & A Microphone Tour will see the Purple Wonder do just that: perform solo with only a piano for 16 dates across the UK and Europe.

Prince explained his reasoning for the tour in a statement, saying, “Why do this now? For several reasons. For starters it is a challenge. I rarely get bad reviews because this is something that’s been perfected 4 over thirty years. You have to try new things. With the piano it is more naked, more pure. You can see exactly what you get. ”

The docket includes shows in the UK, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and The Netherlands, with exact dates still to be announced. However, according to Dr. Funkenberry, the tour will kick off November 21st in Vienna and end December 22nd in Brussels.
