On January 22nd, Savages are due to follow up their 2013 debut, Silence Yourself , with their sophomore effort, Adore Life. They’ve so far previewed the Matador Records release with lead single “The Answer”. Today brings the release of another album cut in “T.I.W.Y.G.”.

When the London quartet road-tested new material earlier in 2015, “This Is What You Get” was a clear highlight, and the studio version lives up to that assessment. Speed punk guitar riffs bleed out in the fuzz while drummer Fay Milton alternates between impressive post-punk rhythmic shifts and furious pummeling. Lyrically, Jehnny Beth may be at her most vulnerable here, eschewing her usual counter-culture, feminist empowerment and beating herself up over failed romance. “All you want is that feeling again/ When someone is camping in your head,” she rapidly spits. “Look right, look left, what a distress/ I saw a no become a yes.”

Take a listen to “T.I.W.Y.G.” below.

Savages will be on the road next year with dates supporting Adore Life. Their US itinerary kicks off in late March, and you can find their full schedule here. Grab tickets via Seatgeek:
