It’s been a big year for N.W.A., what with the release of the blockbuster Straight Outta Compton biopic, as well as Dr. Dre’s star-studded companion album, Compton. This week brings another headline on the legendary hip-hop outfit, as a previously unreleased demo of the classic “Fuck tha Police” has surfaced online.
The rare take sees Ice Cube handling the mic all by himself, which shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to fans considering he’s long been credited with penning a majority of the collective’s songs. More importantly is what Cube says here: The MC spits never-before-heard bars during the track’s opening moments. As Uproxx points out, this is the new verse in question:
“Stereotypes of a brother like me
Down with the n—as from the CPT posse
They callin’ me a thug ’cause I carry a piece
That’s why I say, ‘Fuck police!’”
According to the person who uploaded the demo, there are two more verses floating about that the public’s yet to hear. “This is part of the original Solo ‘Fuck the Police’ track Ice Cube wrote. There are 3 verses that were unreleased. This not a reference track. Ice Cube had 3 original verses.”
Listen in below.
Here’s the original for comparison:
