This week, The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas and Savages singer Jehnny Beth have teamed up for a broiling cover of “Boy/Girl”, an early ’80s track originally done by Danish post-punk outfit Sort Sol and Lydia Lunch.

“I had never heard the song before and still have no idea what the hell the words are talking about,” Casablancas noted in a statement. “It sounds like a Danish dude trying sound like he’s saying English sounding words.”

Beth, however, is a fan of Sort Sol and hopes their collaborative cover will get them more exposure. “Sort Sol are cult in Denmark, and today very influential in the Copenhagen scene (Iceage etc…),” she said. “I would be pleased to make their name known better.”

The cover, which is officially out December 18th, will be released as a 7-inch via Casablancas’ Cult Records and Beth’s Pop Noire.

Casablancas’ last solo record was 2014’s Tyranny. Savages, meanwhile, are slated to drop new album Adore Life on January 22nd.
