The ever-prolific Thee Oh Sees are set to release a new 7-inch single on February 12th. Coming through mastermind John Dwyer’s own Castle Face label, the single’s A-side, “Fortress”, has just been revealed.
“Fortress” comes out of the same sessions that led to Thee Oh Sees’ latest LP, May’s Mutilator Defeated at Last. The track is largely instrumental, guitars reverberating out with the psych pop waves of the ’70s and guitars snapping in almost jazzy patterns. It’s not all garage rock swirling, though, as Dwyer drops in with his falsetto vocals twice throughout the song, singing lines like “I can see the tip that is horizon’s edge/ It’s so sweet, I’m dreaming of the perfect world.” Take a listen below.
Unsurprisingly, Thee Oh Sees are also working on a new record which is expected out in the spring.
