Third Man Records to release Ennio Morricone’s score for The Hateful Eight

Tracklist also includes songs from The White Stripes and Roy Orbison

Ennio Morricone

For his latest epic, The Hateful EightQuentin Tarantino managed to lure Italian film composer Ennio Morricone out of hiding. Morricone earned legend status for his work on spaghetti-westerns like Once Upon a Time in the West and The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, but hadn’t scored a film in the genre in forty years. That was until Tarantino came calling.

On December 18th, Decca Records will release Morricone’s score on CD, vinyl, and as a digital download. Additionally, Jack White’s Third Man Records is putting out an exclusive vinyl edition of the soundtrack, which includes a tri-fold reversible jacket with soft touch finish, a 60″x12″ poster, a 36″x12″ poster, and 12-page booklet insert with stills from the film.

In addition to Morricone’s own original compositions, the soundtrack includes songs by White’s own The White Stripes and Roy Orbison. Members of the cast, including Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kurt Russell, and Michael Madsen, also appear on the tracklist.

The Hateful Eight hits theaters select theaters on December 25th, 2015 screening exclusively in Ultra Panavision 70 mm film and will open wide on January 8th, 2016.
