This month HBO is airing a never-before-seen seven-and-a-half hour version of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather. The Godfather Epic, as its aptly titled, consists of The Godfather and The Godfather Part II cut together chronologically with additional footage left out of the theatrical screenings.
The Godfather Epic aired once on NBC in 1979, albeit censored and with commercials. A shortened version was later released on VHS in 1981. However, this marks the first time The Godfather Epic is available uncensored and without commercials.
