Shaken up upon hearing of David Bowie’s tragic passing, Spoon frontman Britt Daniel took to Facebook early Monday morning to post a touching tribute to the late, great music innovator. “I went to bed early last night,” he wrote. “Woke up at 3 and glanced at my phone. It’s 515 now and I’m realizing there’ll be no more sleep tonight.”

    He continued:

“I was just saying last week isn’t it amazing how Bowie is still with us and we get another album from him? No other artist has meant as much to me personally or inspired my own songs as much. What a spirit. What an inspiration. What a shining example of the beauty that humanity can create. Bless him.”

Not long after penning that message, Daniel hit the studio to pay further homage to The Man Who Fell To Earth by tackling his late ’80s track “Never Let Me Down”. It’s a rendition infused with an impassioned rawness and honesty, and one that would likely make Bowie pretty proud.
