Thanks to Beyoncé’s new single “Formation” (and her sex life), sales at Red Lobster up 33%

Bey slays, much to the delight of the restaurant chain

Beyoncé’s surprise single “Formation” brims with bold, brazen, and brilliant references to black pride and her family’s roots, as well as pointed commentary on police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement.

However, Queen Bey also managed to squeeze in a couple of ridiculously clever, not so serious lines — one of which has one of America’s biggest chain restaurants overjoyed and literally rolling in dough.

“When he fuck me good I take his ass to Red Lobster, cause I slay,” Beyoncé bluntly says toward the end of “Formation”, revealing how she chooses to reward hubby Jay Z for his above average bedroom services.

According to Red Lobster, that singular line helped boost sales nearly 33% this past Super Bowl Sunday compared to last year’s big game. (Bey upstaging Coldplay’s halftime show probably had something to do with it, too.) The company wasn’t even aware it had been name-dropped until it began trending online out of the blue.

“We had nothing to do with the song and had no advance knowledge of it being released,” CEO Kim Lopdrup told USA Today. “We learned about it by seeing that we were trending as number one on Twitter, which is probably the first time that has ever happened.”

Unfortunately, Red Lobster couldn’t just rest on its laurels. Instead, like most big brands in today’s market, it tried to get in on the Internet hype and failed rather miserably, as evidenced by their tweet below. Ya just had to ruin cheddar bay biscuits for us, huh, Red? Only one person here can slay, and that’s Bey.
