CFM is the name of the first-ever solo adventure from Charles Moothart. Known for frequently performing in the numerous projects of fellow Bay Area garage favorite Ty Segall, Moothart more than proves his individuality on the new Still Life of Citrus and Slime track “Purple Spine”. While previous single “Lunar Heroine” showcased his psychedelic rocker side, “Purple Spine” demonstrates he can find beauty in the trippier sides of his sound, as well.
Layered with fuzzy textures and drips of ’70s haze, the track is wisely restrained. You can sense that there’s a no-holds-barred ripper behind what’s going on, but this is a track that lures you in rather than pouncing on your face and rattling your head. It’s a song in which to get lost, so take a listen below.
Still Life of Citrus and Slime, the debut effort from CFM, is due out April 8th via In The Red. The band is currently previewing the material on their North American tour, which enteres Philly tonight before heading down to NYC with Ty Segall & The Muggers. Find the full list of dates here.
