In the wake of David Bowie’s death, Iggy Pop wrote two separate essays reflecting on lessons learned and memories shared during their early years together in Berlin. Last night, however, provided Pop with the first chance to pay tribute to his longtime friend and collaborator on stage.
Appearing at Tibet House’s annual benefit concert in New York City on Monday night, Pop first covered Aladdin Sane’s “The Jean Genie” with members of Patti Smith’s band, and later teamed up with Sharon Jones and other performers from the evening for his own Bowie collaboration “Tonight”.
