Last night, Sia hopped into a car with James Corden for the latest bout of Carpool Karaoke. The Australian pop phenom, following the likes of Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Adele, and ASAP Rocky, belted out the hits while cruising along in the passenger seat, including 1000 Forms of Fear staples “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart”, “Diamonds” by Rihanna (which Sia co-wrote), her David Guetta collaboration “Titanium”, and “Alive”, the smash hit off newly released LP, This Is Acting.
Also during the ride, Sia opened up to Corden about her rocky rise to fame and decision to wear a wig in public. She noted that she donned the get-up to “maintain a modicum of privacy,” adding that she only wears “this when there are cameras around.”
“I was a singer already for 10 or 11 years to mediocre success, and I was an alcoholic and a drug addict, and I sobered up,” she continued. “And decided I didn’t want to be an artist anymore because I was starting to get a little famous and it was destabilizing in some ways. So I thought, what doesn’t exist in pop music at the moment? And it was mystery.” Later, the Late Late Show host asked Sia about her belief in aliens and slipped on a matching wig as a gesture of solidarity.
