Lou Reed is the reason I do everything that I do” Julian Casablancas tweeted upon news of The Velvet Underground frontman’s death in October 2013. In a subsequent interview with NME, he expanded on those comments, explaining that Reed was “everything – the reason I started the label, music… I just felt the injustice, of how amazing he was,” adding, “For me he’s on the Mount Rushmore of rad dudes.”

Previously, The Strokes performed “Walk on the Wide Side” during a concert in 2006. Now, Casablancas honors Reed’s legacy once more by covering The Velvet Underground’s “Run Run Run”. Casablancas’ “Run Run Run” cover appears on the soundtrack to HBO’s new original series Vinyl.
