With Max Landis’ prolific name attached to the spec script and an eventual porn parody title that writes itself, it’s no surprise that Deeper, the screenwriter’s latest project in development, is already attracting attention from several major studios.
Deadline notes that the upcoming film, currently being shopped around with Bradley Cooper in the leading role, concerns a former astronaut who “embarks on a mission to reach the bottom of a newly discovered oceanic trench, theorized to be the lowest point on planet Earth. He encounters an increasing level of danger, and soon finds himself in a psychological (and physical) fight against mysterious forces.”
Kornél Mundruczó, who previously helmed the devastating Hungarian drama White God, is attached to direct the film, which from the regrettable sound of it is not the Deep Blue Sea follow-up we’ve long anticipated. Disappointment aside, it looks to be another promising project from one of Hollywood’s most vocal screenwriters currently working.
