Synthpop songwriter Lorely Rodriguez, aka Empress Of, joined forces with electronic duo Darkstar on moody track “Reformer” last week. Now, Rodriguez is back with song all her own.
Titled “Woman Is a Word”, it finds the songstress calling out someone who isn’t treating her properly and seems to misunderstand her as a person. “You don’t know me, you don’t know me,” Rodriguez declares, flanked by clanging percussion and twilight synths. “I’m only a struggle if I get in your way,” she continues, “You made the road, made the road one way.”
