Hip-hop musical Hamilton has taken the theater world by storm since its Broadway debut in August and big win at the 2016 Grammy Awards. But the production’s most exciting days may be yet to come — at least as far as music lovers are concerned. Creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda has announced that he is curating a collection of Hamilton covers and remixes called The Hamilton Mixtape. According to Broadway World, Miranda detailed the project in a recent interview with Vanity Fair and confirmed that the all-star list of contributors will include Chance the Rapper, Regina Spektor, Busta Rhymes, Latifah, Common, and Ben Folds.

“People are coming out of the woodwork, knocking on the door,” Miranda explained in the interview. “Half the songs are cover versions of songs in the show, and the others are interpolations — we’ll take some of this, some of that, and make something new out of it.” Maybe it’s best to look at The Hamilton Mixtape as a kind of supercharged soundtrack to the show, though the creator himself — who was awarded the MacArthur “Genius” Award last year for his musical — will not be contributing to the mixtape. “I’m not going to be on it because for me, the goal is to keep this inspired by the original.”
