Though absent from the confirmed reunion lineup, former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin has been rumored to be involved with the band in limited capacity. There was speculation that he could appear during select shows on the tour schedule, and the band’s former manager, Alan Niven, said Stradlin was writing and recording with the band. However, near the end of last month, Stradlin launched a Twitter account to make one, clear statement:

Rolling Stone has now confirmed that the account is real, and Stradlin has reiterated his lack of involvement in the reunion. “At this point in time, I will not be playing at any of the April 2016 GNR shows,” the guitarist told the magazine. “I’ve also not been in the studio recording or writing with any of the others recently. There is so much speculation, but so very little info, [that] I thought I should reach out.”

Stradlin later called RS to restate his position, saying, “I’m not in the studio recording with any of the Guns N’ Roses guys. At this point in time, I’m not involved in the actual shows … A lot of stuff [fans] are reading isn’t true.”

As of now, the GNR reunion will see Axl Rose joined by Slash on guitar and Duff McKagan on bass. Recently, former band member Chris Pitman called the reunion a “nostalgia tour,” cautioning, “please don’t mention those who are there the last 20 fucking years … oh god no!! … (a money grab) FU.”
