The life story of music’s greatest enigma is coming to print; Prince is writing his memoir. Titled The Beautiful Ones, the sure-to-be-epic tome is scheduled for release in fall of 2017.
In typical Prince fashion, the autobiography is described by publisher Spiegel & Grau as “unconventional”. What exactly that means is unclear, but hopefully he’ll be dedicating a chapter to his favorite pancake recipes and not cApitaLiZinG RAndOm LeTtERs as he does on Twitter.
Spiegel & Grau further describes the book as a “poetic journey through his life and creative work” that will find Prince writing about the “people, places and ideas that fired his imagination” as well as the inspiration behind his many classic songs, according to Rolling Stone.
Update: At a press conference, Prince said the book will begin with his first memory and span to when he played the Super Bowl halftime show in 2007.
Prince has been in a nostalgic mood of late. In addition to the memoir, he’s staged a series of intimate Piano & A Microphone solo concerts during which fans are taken on a musical journey through career-spanning setlists and personal anecdotes. He’ll next perform two Piano & A Microphone shows in Montreal on Monday, March 21st.
