Robert Pollard announces new Guided By Voices album, shares “My Zodiac Companion” — listen

The band is back together, but it's really just a solo endeavor

Last month, Robert Pollard revealed that he was bringing Guided By Voices out of retirement… again. Now, he’s announced the band’s new album, Please Be Honest, but honestly, it’s more of a Pollard solo album.

The prolific musician plays every instrument on the new record, though he’ll be joined on tour by Bobby Bare Jr. (guitar), Kevin March (drums), Nick Mitchell (guitar), and Mark Shue (bass).

As a first, Pollard has shared the album’s lead single, “My Zodiac Companion”. It’s a slow burn that builds into a bonfire of a track during the pounding chorus. Drums thunder on and guitars crunch heavily as Pollard begs, “Come back to me/ My Zodiac companion.” Take a listen below.

News of the track is accompanied with the announcement of the “reunited” band’s first string of 2016 tour dates. Find those below.
