Prince was rushed to a Moline, Illinois hospital early Friday morning after his private plane was forced to make an emergency landing, according to TMZ.
TMZ reports that Prince’s plane made an unscheduled landing at Quad City International Airport just after 1:00 am Friday. He was then transported to a nearby hospital.
Prince’s ailment is unclear, as is his current condition. One of TMZ’s sources says the musician is still in the hospital and “not doing well,” however, another source claims Prince has been released and is doing fine.
For what it’s worth, Prince has been active on Twitter most of the afternoon, posting links to reviews of his shows in Atlanta last night. The tweets were made in Chanhassen, Minnesota, where Prince calls home. Based on that, it would seem Prince is no longer in the hospital.
Update – Friday, April 15th at 5:20 p.m.: Prince responded to a fan on Twitter and seems to confirm he’s at home and doing fine. Meanwhile, Questlove has tweeted a message from Prince saying, “I’m cool.”
Update – Friday, April 15th at 6:05 p.m.: TMZ reports that Prince has been fighting the flu for the last several weeks. “After the show, he got on a plane and felt considerably worse, so his plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois, where he was taken to the hospital and treated. He was released three hours later, got back on the plane and is now back home.”
Last week, Prince postponed a pair of Piano & A Microphone concerts in Atlanta after coming down with the flu. The shows were rescheduled and took place last night.
