Last September, Keith Richards revealed that The Rolling Stones had “definite plans to record” new material in early 2016. According to a new interview with guitarist Ronnie Wood, the legendary rockers seemed to have kept their promise: They’ve been hard at work in the studio recently and hope to release a brand new album before the year’s end.
“We went in to cut some new songs, which we did,” Wood told The Associated Press, “But we got on a blues streak. We cut 11 blues in two days.” He added, “They are extremely great cover versions of Howlin’ Wolf and Little Walter, among other blues people. But they really sound authentic.”
In the same interview, Richards confirmed that “there’s one [album] coming,” but couldn’t offer any other details, noting that his “lips are sealed.”
The Stones — arguably one of the most influential bands in the world — recently made rock ‘n’ roll history with their first-ever concert in Cuba last month. Watch official footage from the performance below.
