Anthony Mackie set to play attorney Johnnie Cochran

If it doesn't make sense, you should find Falcon for the defense

The life and legacy of Johnnie Cochran is louder than ever.

Earlier this year, FX and Ryan Murphy turned heads with American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, which brought the legendary criminal lawyer to life through a powerful and charismatic performance by Courtney B. Vance.

Now, it’s up to Anthony Mackie to follow in his footsteps. As Variety reports, the Captain America hero has agreed to play Cochran in an untitled film that zeroes in on one of his earlier court cases involving Signal Hill, CA circa 1981.

Long before he defended The Juice, Cochran aided a family who lost their son, Ron Settles, a young college football star who was found severely beaten and hanging in his jail cell the morning after his arrest. The police ruled a suicide.

Watching O.J. playwright and TV screenwriter David McMillan wrote the script. Currently, there’s no director attached but the film will be produced by The Firm’s Robbie Brenner alongside Jason Spire and Mackie himself.

Mackie can currently be seen in Captain America: Civil War.
