Today, May 16th, 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of Pet SoundsBrian Wilson’s magnum opus and one of the greatest albums to ever be releasedThe Beach Boys frontman, currently performing the album as part an extensive world tour, has released a heartfelt statement about the monumental anniversary:

“I just can’t believe it. I recorded it to bring love to the world and I’m honored to be performing it in so many countries and cities in 2016. My current band is just amazing. They are great singers and the very best musicians who replicate live every single show what I did in the studio 50 years ago! I’m just blown away by what I hear!”

As mentioned, Wilson is amid an extensive world tour featuring full performances of the album (see the complete schedule below). Next month, Universal will unveil a deluxe reissue containing stereo and mono mixes, session outtakes, and never before released live recordings. And if that weren’t enough, Wilson is also penning his memoir.
